Invitation from the Friends of the Gustave Courbet Museum
From 27 June to 8 November 2026, the Gustave Courbet Museum (Ornans, France) is presenting its exhibition «Animal Realism». The AMN has received an invitation from the Friends of the Museum Association, which we reproduce below:
«Dear Sir or Madam,
The Association of Friends of the Courbet Museum is delighted to write to the members of your association to invite them to come and discover the summer exhibition, in the heart of the Pays de Courbet, in Ornans, running from 27 June to 8 November 2026, entitled «Animal Realism».
As in previous years, we’d like to highlight the wonders to be discovered in the Loue Valley – so beautiful and so dear to our painter, Gustave Courbet, not forgetting a few other cultural gems, such as the one offered by the Franche-Comté Painters’ Museum in Mouthier Haute-Pierre, housed in the former priory.
In addition to these visits, our association would like to establish a lasting friendship with one of the friends’ associations of a Swiss museum, so as to showcase and raise awareness of our Courbet-centred world, and to share the world and the friendships that Courbet cultivated during his exile in your magnificent country. The year 2027 will mark the 150th anniversary of the death of the painter from Franche-Comté. Wouldn’t this be a wonderful opportunity to forge a cultural partnership between two museums, two regions and two communities!
We would be delighted to welcome you on a date of your choice during this period, and we are happy to arrange a personalised guided tour, as well as an opportunity to chat over a drink.
On behalf of the Friends of the Courbet Museum Association, Patrick Racine, Chairman»
